    LAYOUT SETTING AND BORDER OPTIONS FOR PIONEER SAMPLER FOR ADOPTEES
    As we come to the end of our quilt blocks it is time to think about your layout.
    Some options are; Straight set, layout your blocks in a pleasing order and sew blocks directely together; Sashing without cornerstones
    With sashing and cornerstones (one of my favorites)
    Cornerstones can be plain squares or small pieced blocks your choice
    On point with alternate squares (squares will be cut 12 ½ inches) this layout requires setting triangles and triangle corners. More in this option if anyone is interested, I would need to figure out sizes to cut the setting and corner triangles. Just let me know if you are interested.

    At this time I only laid out blocks with pieces of fabric to give you the idea. After the Folkart Festival (craft fair 5/15), I will work on getting these blocks finshed and start putting together.

    BORDERS;
    Here I am going with simple borders. Think of borders as the mat and frame around a picture. I always try to cut my borders down the length of the fabric, and when purchasing a fabric I think may work for a border I purchase 1 1/2 – 3 yards. I like to add a minimum of two borders; this first one I usually cut 1 ½ inches wide and the second varies; we can go back to this closer to when needed.
    Again, any questions please let me know. I am here to help you in any way I can.
    :-)

    I have never done QAYG, but if you are familiar with the process I don't see why not.

    I plan on quilting each block before putting the quilt together, if that's what you mean. If you mean stitching the blocks directly onto the backing and batting, I'm not sure if that's possible, but it might be with an awful lot of planning.
