Pioneer sampler for Adoptee
#51
Welcome Honey! I am using what I have in my stash. I had a somewhat large stash a year ago, it is starting to show gaps LOL. I have it divided into several categories, one of which is reproductions, so that is what I am using.

I recently joined and found this thread. I have downloaded the instructions for all the blocks and am looking forward to making these blocks. I plan on using my stash and hope everything will look good together. I do think it is easier to make the half square triangles by leaving the fabric in strips instead of cutting it into squares and then doing the diagonal stitching. For instance, in the first block you need to make six half square triangle blocks. If you cut a strip of each fabric 4" x 12", then mark it in 4" squares, then mark the diagonal line on each marked square (mark the first and third square from the top left corner to the bottom right corner and the second square from the bottom left corner to the right top corner). You can then stitch all the lines and then cut the pieces apart. They will be a little oversize, but it is very easy to square them up and the blocks are perfect. This is basically the Eleanor Burns method and I have found that my quilts turn out much nicer using this method.
I hope to get started on my blocks tomorrow and look forward to seeing how everyone else is doing.
