My thoughts are that no one is perfect and everything that is made with love is beautiful, I love everything I see on this site for that reason and there is so much imagination....

How sad to crush someone's efforts like that, I'm sure if the reverse were true that person would be vocally upset.

I have been going to a sewing club for the past 5 months and have not experienced this. It is not just quilts so there are a variety of items that come in. (quilts, bags, shirts) I appreciate all that I see because it is done with love. To bad all people can't realize that.

You know that always happened to me when I started to take quilt classes. I would bring show and tell and they would never look at it or they would turn their noses up and make me feel like I wasn't good enough for them. The teacher never told me that my things were good and etc. I think part of it was because I could not afford the expense material Well as time went on one day she asked me why I always wanted to make harder patterns instead of the real easy ones. I told her that is the way I learn by doing the harder ones. Oh was her answer. Then about 9 years or longer I had done a quilt and she was at a little diner that I alway ate at and I had a quilt along to show someone and she saw it and she said " on my gosh" then later I made a big T-shirt quilt for someone and she told that person that it would be great and that I do very good work. What a surprise. So tell this person to keep on doing the thing that she is doing and she will be happy

So sad, have been there and it was done by a quilter at the guild. I was barely starting to learn and she shot me down. I felt so bad, but she did not knock me down. I agree, we all should help one another.

I remember how nice the ladies were when I first was making quilts....never a put down....and I try to think that the criticism I got at a quilt shop was to help me do better....

That is one of the reasons I don't belong to a guild.
And of course with me still working full time, there would not be enough time for me to complete their list of "have to do for the guild".
So I just quilt happily by myself doing what I like to do.
Many times though, I do wish to be a part of a quilting group. It would be fun!

that person should be reminded that not everyone is an expert and everyone started as a beginner - hope the person just ignores the comment and continues making quilts that they like. we have all seen quilts that are not to our personal liking but encourage the person with nice comments
