PLEASE HELP!!! Machine embroider on a stocking
My daughters asked me to use my embroidery machine to put my grandsons' names on them. They bought stockings and brought them to me. The stockings don't have cuffs. The stockings feel like real soft felt that have 'stuff' appliqued on the 'foot' part already. Please help me figure this out????

Where do they want to put the names ? One way would be to take the stocking apart embroider it then sew back together- another way is to "make" a cuff and add it to the top of the stocking, which might be the easiest

I just did some for a friend. They were the stockings her children had grown up with and they did not want new. They are purchased, knitted with patterns on them. There was no way to use the cuffs because they had patterns on them. I made some embroidered patches with a border around the name. The fabric stitched on matched the base color of the stocking. I then trimmed the fabric to the border and used steam a seam to iron the "patch" to the stocking on the body where ther was a solid area. One stocking had a tear in the knitting and I used the patch to cover it.
I got a text message from her today telling me she loved them.

I just unseamed 8 stockings they had cuffs. I undid the one side that had a seam down to where the foot started.
put smaller hoop on and had no trouble, if you have long names would be the only problem.
