I have a Janome 6500 and love it. The 6600 is newer and has the AcuFeed system and is a wonderful machine for quilting. Go to Janome.com and research the information on this machine. I agree that you can buy a brand new one for about the price they are asking for the used one on Craig's List. Find a Janome dealer near you. They'll work with you on the price and they should offer a class on the machine. Good Luck!

If you are going to spend that kind of money on a sewing machine buy it from your nearest dealer. At least you will have a warranty and service which is very important. I've also read that warranty is not transferable. Check with the manufacturer first before buying from this person. She's just trying to get rid of the machine. Buyer beware.

Parts for the Pfaff are more expensive. Also, I believe the Pfaff has the bobbin case down under. Some people like this and some don't. I prefer it up top where I can see what I'm doing. I have a Janome 6500 and love it. Test drove the Pfaff and wasn't impressed.

I own a Pfaff and I know that they are german made and that their components are metal instead of plastic
I would check to see what comes with the Pfaff an see what will cost more to repair, also see which one would give you a better trade in value in case you want to do that in the future. Good luck in your choosing.
