I'd read the reviews before making a decision. I know that there have been some issues with
the early made Pfaff 4.0's and you wouldn't want to be buying someone else's problems.

I have had my Pfaff Expression 2. for two years and I love it. I paid $1650 for it. I am pretty sure I didn't get a good deal, but I did buy it from a dealer and have a three year warranty. You might see if there is still a warranty on that machine? At any rate, I love my Pfaff.

I'd go to a dealer as well to get support and warranty. Used to be a Pfaff sewer but found that the newer Pfaffs are not the same quality. There is a lot of writeup for problems with the 4.0 which supposedly have been fixed but you really don't know anything about this machine.

I agree with most of the comments. First, figure out what you are going to be using it for. Second, are you familiar with machines and won't need any help getting started? Third, is there any warranty on the Craig's List machines, Fourth, with every kind of machine, there can be lemons. You'd get service at a dealer, whereas you wouldn't from an individual. Fifth, there are always deals out there. I don't think either one is a REALLY good deal for used machines.
I have a 7570 pfaff, a 2170 Pfaff and a new 830 Bernina. I use each of them for different things and I have had good luck with them all. However, I am partial to the Bernina because of the way it is built and the LARGE harp. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I've never used either, I have a Juki TL98QE 699.00 and it is very tough, I've made lots of quilts and quilted them on it also. 9" harp and all metal parts. Straight stitch machine and very strong feet.

If you have any Janome dealers around, sometimes you can get a good used machine at a very good price. Quilters trade up all the time. If you go to a dealer, you usually get a warranty and classes. I love my Janome, although I think the one you are looking at is a little overpriced. Keep looking, you will get a good price.
