It's great and it's your first quilt! Hurray!
Your choice of fabrics is wonderful, by the way. I see many gorgeous quilts in your future!
You will never make a first quilt again, so just enjoy the process, learn from your mistakes, quilt it, and move on! In 20 years you will look back at this quilt and marvel at how far you have progressed in your quilting journey.
As for gifting it for Christmas, well, I know I would be honored to receive a one of a kind, made especially for me, filled with love, outstanding first quilt from anyone for Christmas or any other time. That someone took so much time and worked so hard on a gift for me is a truly priceless gift, and that quilt would be treasured and used every day for the rest of my life.
