I bought an older singer. Thought it was a 301. I do have pictures of it on here. Got the book. It's close to picture but not exact. Tried to thread. Most machines thread same on top. The bobbin is a drop in I believe it's called. Is there a special way it works? Put it in thread pulls easy. Then I pull to top it won't pull Turned bobbin over but won't pull at all so know it's backwards. What am I doing wrong! It's one of thoses days! Can't get quilting foot to fit. Busted needles. Went to Viking. Threaded top but cant figure out how to open bobbin case! AaaaaRgh! I give up for today!!!

Take a break shake it off and try again later. I wish I could be more help. I love my sewing machines but sometimes they can be so frustrating. Am sending {{hugs}} your way.

Wish I could help, but I know nothing about Singers. It may be time to take a day off of worrying about it?

What is the link where you posted the pic? I have a 301 and a manual so I might be able to help. Maybe....

make sure you have the RIGHT bobbin...someone could have just put any old bobbin in the machine!
NExt make sure you have the correct needle and that it is threaded correctly!
Some threaded left to right!

301 doesn't have a drop in bobbin. Must be a different model. Does it have a number on the front of the machine?

I'm not certain you have a 301 which doesn't have a drop in bobbin. Maybe it's a 401? Try this site...http://possumjimandelizabeth.com/xht...g_sing301.html I have a 301 and the bobbin and case is thin.

a 401 has the drop in bobbin any change of a picture of your singer? You can down load a copy of the 401 manual on line. That is what I did.
