I was given a large piece of polarfleese. How should I use it? For a shelter. Opinions seems to suggest it's too stretchy for quilting backing. Dotty

Polartec fleece is very good stuff! Way better than the Chinese fleece sold by Joann's. That said, I've used both types of fleece as quilt backing and it results in a nice soft quilt (no need to add batting).

------ Oops, I thought you said Polartec fleece. Oh well. What I said above still stands.

This may shrink - several pieces I had shrank at different rates - so if you are planning to put it with something else, I would wash everything to avoid unpleasant surprises.

I have used it for backing and really liked the effect. Just be careful not to stretch it when stitching.

I just quilted the two star quilts and both had fleece on the back, the quilts I did were queen size. When working with fleece on a long arm I was told and did do:is use the stretchest direction for width, they turned out really well and I did use batting 80/20 in-between and the turned out nice and warm for our cold winters.

I saw it used to make stadium pillows. They used the same concept as for tying the fleece but only smaller to fit a pillow.
