    Default Polished Cotton

Okay I am giving my age away. I want to make a Star War Storm Trooper quilt for my grandson. I was thinking polished cotton because of the sheen. Storm Troopers appear to be a shinny white plastic. If any one has a suggestion or where I could purchase some thing similar to polished cotton, I would certainly appreciate the info.

    Thanks, Maureen

The only polished cotton I've seen recently was home dec fabric and quite heavy. My mom used to make dresses out of a lighter weigh version. Seems to me the glaze sort of washes out after a couple of launderings. Might want to think about cotton sateen.

Hi Maureen! Welcome to the board! You aren't giving anything away I think Star Wars is more popular now than it was when the first one came out in '77!

Windham makes an opalesence in white and it has a shinny look to it, though a picture doesn't do it justice. I just saw it at a local quilt shop, https://www.ericas.com/fabric/opalescence.htm (last one on the page), and thought it looked great. Another possibility would be from Robert Kaufman, called Ultra Sheen.

maybe cotton sateen is what you're looking for, it's wonderful and shiny.

I remember polished cotton, though I haven't thought about it for years. I just googled it, and apparently it still exists. Go google and see if it is what you are thinking of.

I remember polished cotton. My mom was really big on it when I was growing up. You could use cotton sateen as a substitute although it might be a bit pricey for a costume. You could also go to Joann's and look at some of their synthetic/cotton blends. There might be something less expensive there that would work just fine for a costume.

Could it be made in black? Darth Vader style? https://www.amazon.com/Black-Polishe...olished+cotton If you contact the seller, they may have white as well.

It was funny to read your post, because I am doing a Storm Trooper sampler quilt for my Son-In-Law's next birthday. He will be 32 but loves Star Wars Storm Troopers. I am in the Boom swap, and the fabric I gave everyone this time was my stormtrooper fabric. I'm sure this is not the style you are planning for your quilt, but I thought you might like to look at some of the blocks that are being made out of my fabric.

Scroll down to the black, white and red Storm trooper blocks for Sewbizgirl... They are the second to last group on the page.http://boomerangswaps.weebly.com/

Wow..some great blocks. The storm troopers really make the blocks pop. I also love the focus fabric in Jaba's blocks.
