We still have our fabric dept in our Walmart in Okeechobee, Florida. They say we are 1 of 500 that will keep it but I don't know. Ya hear that they are all going to go so...we'll see. For now we have fabric. will be sad to lose it here as we have to drive about 50 miles to get to a JoAnns.

It is my understanding that you will be discontinuing your fabric departments throughout your stores. I think this is a bad decision. I go to WalMart for fabric and while I'm there I will pick up other things I want or need - paper goods, cleaners, food stuff, diapers, movies, gift cards, etc. One stop shopping for me. However, if it weren't for the fabric department I wouldn't go. I have a grocery store and pharmacy a lot closer to my home plus a Target, Meijer and KMart. I go to WalMart for my fabrics because of the prices and variety, plus the notions and supplies.

I think you are making a very bad decision and I'm not the only one who thinks so. There are many of us quilters who shop at WalMart because of the fabric department. I think we boost your sales a bit. Do you really want to lose us?

    Sincerely, K. Burns

Your message should hit close to home -- which is their bottom line! I like it.
I think it's a great letter. The store in Poteau, OK got rid of there fabric dept. but about 2 yrs later, got in fabric bundles, and FQ's they have one whole area just for fabric now.

I sent a link to this message board (I hope) to Wal-Mart's investor board at
    http://investors.walmartstores.com/p...p=irol-contact
I hope they will think twice about how many people use and want the fabric department. The investors can change things.
It wouldn't hurt for more of you too send emails too.

    Thank you.

Would you believe I just got a reply to my email to WalMart. Talk about a "canned" response. First of all the reply started, "Dear Thomas". Well I signed the correspondence K. Burns and it came from my personal email, burnsk@... So I'm curious how they came up with the name "Thomas".

I'm on my way out the door for dinner but will post it here later on tonight. Curious to know if anyone else gets a response and if it's the same.

Middlesboro, Ky. I go there mostly to shop the fabric dept, while there I pick up some food items, dog and cat food, cleaning supplies, etc. We don't even have a K-Mart. If they drop fabric, Kroger will get most of my business.
Have you searched the store lately to find ANYTHING made in
the U.S.A? yes, Sam Walton would turn over in his grave.
