    Everyone has their preference, but I do both - machine and hand piece. I am hand piecing at night for quiet time and a time to relax. I machine quilt during the day. I wouldn't care how long it takes for the hand pieced quilt because it's just for me anyway. If you are wanting to get it done right away, then go ahead and machine piece it.

    I used 1.5" squares when I machine pieced by Burgoyne Surrounded for my daughter. I found it fairly easy, my only requirement was no two colors could touch. Cut them up, put into a paper back, shook it and pulled one at a time out and just sewed.

    Yes, I agree, machine stitching postage stamp quilts is relaxing and easy. I do the same, just make sure no matching fabric is touching.

    Machine piece it. I am allergic to hand sewing :-) The joke in my quilt guild is that if there is a way to avoid hand sewing I will find it.

    I did one like you mentioned with the fusible grid. Can't imagine doing one with this sized pieces any other way.

    I like doing both and it certainly is nice to be able to keep a portable sewing box to take along when traveling. Since I no longer sit waiting for others most the time it is for vacations when I am not able to take a machine. That is when I do my EPP. I have 2 different styles I have been working on for years. Also, I am not above hand sewing a bunch of 25 patches, then machine sewing those together.
