I have the small travel iron by Rowenta. I LOVE it!

When my fourth Rowenta, which I dearly loved, died, I got a Black and Decker from WalMart and a dry iron from the Vermont Country Store. I really like both of those irons. I have been using Best Press instead of steam. When I got the Black & Decker iron, I thought I would just use it until I could get another Rowenta; but after using it, I decided I didn't need another iron.

I had one of these irons and it threw off sparks. Took it back for another one. Same thing but worse. Smoked and blew my circuit. A member of this board had one that actually burned with flames and she was burned. Perhaps she will chime in on this subject. Just be careful!

I have a Rowenta Powerglide 2 which is no longer made. This is the iron I use for steam. I've had it for probably 13 yrs. and it works OK, it spits a bit sometimes. I bought a travel Rowenta for paper piecing, since the weight of the other was a bit tiring on my wrist. It worked great for a couple years and then the handle broke, so it would collapse when I used it. Bummer, since it still heated. So I ended up getting a Rival at Target for $7 or 8.00. It's light weight, has a brushed sole plate, but heats up quickly and works fine for me. I could put water in it but don't. It does not shut off after a few minutes of no use.
