i prefer just the yellow border thinking that the prairie points would be too fussy for the rest of the quilt, but then again it could add a little pizzazz to an otherwise "quiet" quilt.

Both look very nice, but the prairie points are absolutely great! I'd go with them.

I think the yellow and red stripe makes a striking border with the purple, more so than the pale yellow prairie points, though they are certainly pretty. They would be more distinctive, perhaps, with the purple border behind them. In use as a blanket rather than a floor mat the points could be uncomfortable against the tender skin of a young one; I know they'd bother me!

I made one with praise points, absolutely love how it looks. Will ask my niece how it turned out with all the washings.

I like the prairie points. If you have concern about the points being a problem, how about letting them rest on the purple border and then bind the edge? Another idea--alternate yellow and purple points if you want them to appear as they do in the picture, to the outside of the quilt. There is a way to make prairie points all in one strip, even if you want to use alternating colors. Surely there is a tute somewhere online telling us how to do that. Lots easier than putting them on one at a time!
