Preparing a washed quilt for a show

I have won 24 awards in shows, including 4 best of show and 2 viewers choice awards 12 first place awards
Every one of my quilts were washed and dried before entering. Making sure your binding is even and full, your seams are straight, your design is appealing and your quilting is balanced is most important- along with being Clean.
I had 1 quilt about 11 years ago disqualify because I had failed to remove a marked seam. It was blue chalk, I didn’t think it was noticeable I had tried, it was quite faded. After that I started washing all my quilts.

I don't block my quilts either. That seems a big waste of time to me. I do preshrink batting before using if it has any cotton in it at all. I spray it with water until damp and put in dryer on hot setting until dry.

I pieced a quilt that my mother hand quilted, and because of the way it was marked it needed to be washed. Plus I generally like to wash finished quilts to get out the starch, oils and cat fur. Now I am thinking of entering it into a local fair. Are there any suggestions for the best way to prep a washed quilt for show?
