    I try to follow the rules, but make the call on pressing open depending on the bulk. I want my blocks as flat as possible. I am the only one who gets to wave from Red Hill Road! No wavey blocks!!!!

    I generally press seams to the side, but if it looks like it could get bulky, I will press them open.

    It does look nicer to press the seams to the darker side, but some patterns it just doesn't always work out that way :roll: it is preferable to not have to sew 6 layers of fabric together...

    You will find that the more you piece, the easier it will be to decide where the seams need to be as you go along :D:D:D

    Yes the standard changes, you do what it takes to get the block put together and to lay flat.
