you can not use fabric as your fusable pressing sheet, people are thinking of two different things...i have one of the pressing sheets, it was expensive, it was required at a class i took i was not happy about being required to buy it, i force myself to use it because i have it but i think release paper works better.
if you always save the release paper from using paperback fusable you can then use that same paper to lay over your applique or you can see through it and use it over the pattern as a placement guide and build your applique on it after it cools you can peel the constucted piece off of it and adhere it to the background.
parchment paper will work too but for me it gets crisp fast, the release paper lasts better.

Several members have used parchment baking paper. It's in the aisle with wax paper and foil.

I use parchment paper for fusible and for fusing angelina fibers. You get a big roll for under $4, and can re-use a length for a long time. Good stuff!

Thanks everyone for all the replies.
I will have to check for a Menards (or someplace similar that has these) in my area, in the mean time I think I will try the Parchment paper (never even thought of it but I think I actually have some). I don't use a lot of fusible that has paper on it and when I do it is normally small pieces that I "score" in the center so it is easy to rip off. So I don't think that would work.

joannes has the applique pressing sheet advertised right now for $15.95, if you used a 40% coupon it would make it much more affordable. :)
