I don't pre-wash my fabrics. It was always too much work to wash and then press the fabric. I live in apt complex now so I don't have the convenience of a W/D. I do pre-check my darker reds, blues and purple and only had a problem with one dark navy. I prefer the starch already on the fabric when piecing. I have read and heard that you are not suppose to wash charms or jelly roils because you won't have the size or width after drying.

I pre wash everything. Smaller pieces go into lingerie bags. Been awhile though since I purchase precuts. Too much not right sized usually smaller than stated. Everything gets washed before it goes into my stash.

I wash everything. I only bought one jelly roll and one layer cake, but I did wash those by hand, spin them in a garment bag and hang to dry. I was still able to use them; the jelly roll did not shrink appreciably in width, and the layer cake pieces were being cut anyway. I have two kits that I haven't made yet, but I do intend to wash those pieces when the time comes.

I prewash, but only yardage. Jelly rolls, layer cakes, charm packs will ravel too much if washed in a washing machine, plus the jelly rolls will wrap around each other. If a kit comes pre-cut, then, no, I don't launder it. If it's all yardage, then it's washed and dried before I use it.
I take yardage out of the dryer, fold it, mark it's measurement and then fold it up for storage.
It is ironed when I am ready to use it.
