Since I've had a serger for many years, I have lots of cones in assorted colors. I have been using mostly serger thread for piecing and quilting. ALOT cheaper. I have to watch my budget very carefully, and Maxilock works for me.

Try Connecting Threads. The thread is very good quality and price is right. Comes in a jillion colors, too.

Prices going up, size of spools going down. Same with yardage, soon we will be back to 36" in WOF. Sad to think of, but we will prevail

The best way to save money for cotton quilting supplies is to buy cotton socks/underwear/teeshirts/jeans NOW. In a few months they will be at much higher price increase then the cotton thread. I stocked up on the the basic cotton clothing DH and I like. He seems to go through socks and tees very fast.

Every thing is going up, it's crazy, I went and got fabric for my appliqué pieces for my present and spent $40! I was surprised, it really makes me not want to quilt that much. I don't have enough scraps. I really dont see the economy getting any better.

And I use mostly gutterman thread, I love it, has let lint and it doesn't mess up my machine

I buy hats wholesale to embroider and was told that cotton is going sky high very soon and the prices will be passed down to guess who. I suppose that means thread also. I've read it is because cotton has to be planted every year. The new hot item seems to be anything made from bamboo because it re-grows by itself. This is just what I've heard. I'm not sure there is a reason needed to raise prices on anything anymore.

Everything goes up and yet we are told everything is looking up-where?? Our gas is 3.09. Now the quilters must see their only enjoyment go up to. When and where will it end.

My feeling about Connecting Threads, thread is it is nice, but doesnt go too far. Rather thick and so when you wind a bobbin, its gone before you know it. Anyone else feel like this?

Also wondering what brand of cone thread you use. Some people like it and some do not. I use it for some projects as well.

Am I glad I stocked up during my obsessive phase. I doubt I'll have to buy any thread for the rest of my life unless its a special quilting thread. I have boxes and boxes of thread. Good for me!!!!!
