Good afternoon all,

I posted a couple weeks ago about looking for a new machine. I am still in that process and was trying to get some basic pricing ideas before I went to the store so I knew if I was looking at a reasonable deal or not. Can anyone tell me what prices I might be looking at for the Memory Craft 6600P? I have found online prices for the 6500P but can't seem to see any for the 6600P. Any opinions on whether the price difference in the two machines is worth it?

My understanding is that the 6600 is worth it because it includes the evenfeed foot -- similar to the Pfaff built-in evenfeed foot. That is the major difference from the 6500, I think.

My dealer charges $1800 for 6600. I paid $1400 five yesrs ago?

I paid $1299 for my 6600P in July 2011. I absolutely love it! I highly recommend getting the free-motion bobbin case, if you are planning to FMQ on it. It only cost $25, and is worth every penny.

Check on Joann Fabrics website. I know they have the 6500P on sale this week-retail $2000 for $1499, which you should be able to get a better price somewhere as it is a discontinued model. Not sure if they carry the 6600P.

I agree about the fmq bobbin case. Make sure you get the one that works with a thread cutter. There are two different ones and that is the one you will need. I also love my 6600P. I have had i since March and love it.

I have just bought the 6600p in Uk, and paid £999 for it. I think that equates to about 1400 dollars. This one has the thread cutter, a super feature.

I have the 6600P and love it. I did not need the extra "blue dot" bobbin case for FMQ .. no problems. So you might want to try without it first and spend the $$ on a 1/4" accufeed foot I piece everything with my 1/4" accufeed foot (except of course paper piecing).

If you are on a budget and the new retail price is just out of range but your heart is set on this machine ... ask the dealer if they have a used 6600P available. That's how I got mine. I really liked the machine but because I had a fairly new Husqvarna 535 I couldn't justify spending over $1,000 on yet another new machine. Picked mine up for $700 and it included all the feet that usually come with the machine, the extension table, the knee lift, and the soft cover - and it included a 90 day warranty. The dealer had taken it in as a trade in when the 7700 came out, serviced it, and sold it. Since Janome has recently released another new machine, there is a good chance that they have a trade-in 6600 .. or perhaps even 7700 at reasonable prices. Have not had a single problem with mine ... had it 4 years now.
