Here's a site devoted to it and sells the designs. http://www.pieceinthehoop.com/shop/

I don't think it's my cup of tea.

In the hoop to me is an "oxymoron"!!!!

I sew, because it's a process of putting pieces together.. and when i ME..it's usually to "add to" my sewing project...does this make sense....

In the hoop means the complete project is finished "in the hoop" of the embroidery machine.. within the hoop".. while it's "finished" when it comes off the hoop... there are a lot of variables.. size hoop, type of fabric, stabalizer, thread, cutting proberly , not the stitching ...on and on .. so me.. i like to sit at the heavy duty machine and put the pedal to the metal... stitch, press, and trim.. done..
yep, i'm a wordy girl... but wanted to share, for those that haven't doen ITH!!!!

Thanks!

Yes, I would like a more defined explaination myself. I do use my embroidery machine for quilting but always piece the quilt with sewing machine, simply because I enjoy that part.

In the hoop embroidery can be for other projects than quilting. I use it for Christmas decorations, book markers, etc. :-)

When link opens go down left side to projects. Should see some 'in the hoop'.
