Nice! I do it all the time at estate sales. The sewing machines are always the last to go. So wait til the last day, hunt out the ones that have lots of attachments and the original manuals, clean them up and sell them on eBay! I generally make $50-100 each! Want my big tip? Advertise the older ones as "Heavy duty" and put a picture of a few layers of denim that you've stitched. When I started doing that, I added $20-50 of profit to every machine! And it's not false advertising-it's GOOD advertising!

I know what you mean, my pfaff 1222 has died and the day it did I looked on craigs list and wow top of the page a 1222 pfaff for $20.00 needs repair. Had my daughter pick it up that day and brought it home to me. Cleaned and oiled it threaded it up no problems sews great and I am such a happy camper. Enjoy your find.

I use to sell books on Ebay, first editions and out of print hard to find books. This was before the yard sellers and thrift stores got smart and checked Ebay for the going price. I would buy the book for a $1 or two and sale it for hundreds. My best sale was over $800 for a book I bought at a yard sale in excellent condition for .25. I don't do it anymore, it's too much work to keep track and I don't need or want a job. The rare books are harder to find but I still keep my eye out when I go to estate sales and thrift shops. I give the books I find to a group that resells for the children's hospital here.

Don't ya love it when you find an awesome bargain like that!! I was at a yard sale a couple summers ago and saw a machine in a cabinet and bench. I asked if it was for sale and they said yes, that it was $10 because it didn't work. I bought it and took it home. It was a Singer Rocketeer and it did work!! It is my most favorite find of all.

The maintenance man at the school where I work buys storage units and sells the contents. He has a standing order from me for any sewing machines he finds! I got my last Kenmore (my favorite brand) from him for $20!

That is great! I'd a done the same thing...and then had it ready for my 6 yo grand daughter to use. She is my new quiilting buddy. I plan to watch yard sales this year and get her one. Hope I can get a deal like yours!
