I have that machine but I only use it for FMQ. I heard it sews a beautiful straight stitch. I love that machine!

I bought a non-branded 1/4" foot from Sewing parts on line, it was about $15. I discovered that the compensating foot is also 1/4", but I haven't tried it out since I'm using the one I sent away for.

These are such helpful responses. I am sure there are others besides me who are benefiting from your expertise.
For example, I have never tried the compensating foot. I did my first machine-sewn binding a year ago on the Juki and used the zipper foot (for some reason, I thought that made sense.) Of course, it kept slipping off the path. Now I wonder if the compensating foot would have been a better idea. I will be experimenting on the 1/4" seam, using your suggestions. It's strange not to be able to move the needle, but the silky action of the machine is nothing like my older Viking. There's a lot to love here. Maybe there should be an addendum to the machine manuals in a section of the Board. I'm sure our fellow quilters could do better than what's generally provided. hugs, charlotte |
