At 62 I made my first two quilts for twin grandsons, rather basic ones - but at 65 I joined a group of women who quilt at the local library and have not put down a piece of fabric since!

I started at 65 when I retired, but had watched my mother and grandmother quilt when I was a child.

I started when I was 60, after I retired. Never had the time before. Quilting was one of my goalds in life. Of course, my friends were quilters and had a winter group once a week class. Lucky me. Barb

Let's see now..I am 77....started when I was just about 50......

but actually really got into the joy of being able to go and buy my fabric, and have all the time that I needed to make something of this material when I was in my 60s......

I have been at it since the beginning (1983) but the last 15+years have the the more pleasant......empty nest and retired..

Could one ask for more?

I started in my 60's after I retired but I've always sewn.

mom is 80 and she started at 70! She's still making gorgeous quilts! In fact, she just won the first quilting board contest! I started at 50!

Took home ec in high school; for several years I made a few items of clothes and some large block quilts.

About 11 yrs ago I took some classes and made my first pieced quilt. Age 46. Then decided to go to college and get my degree in Web Programming; I've been working for a childrens hospital since I graduated; with top honors I might add. I'm proud of that; especially for some one w/a GED and alot of years in between high school and college.

1 1/2 yrs ago I started taking more quilting classes and haven't stopped since. Not quite 60 yet but like most even though I fight hard not too (degenative back disase); some days I feel twice as old. I can't see me ever stopping quilting this time; I'm hooked for good. My goal now is to make all of my 5 kids, 9 grandkids and 1 great grandkid (that's it for now) a quilt. Some of the kids and grandkids will get thier first this year for Christmas.

Started after I retired at 62. Two yrs. later, I began a lifelong dream---to learn to quilt. That was 20+ yrs. ago and am still hard at it. It makes my day. Marge L.
