Try a few 5 inch charm packs and just make a quilt of small squares, because they are all coordinated, it is easy to get started and end with so9mething you will love.:)

Great advice for a first quilt.

ScoutingSquirrel-a 4 patch posie would look beautiful with florals, also you could just do 8" squares, then maybe an inch sashing between.

Here's a website to get you started:

Also, Google "rail fence quilt" and then click on images to see real-life examples of this pattern.

I agree with this. It was my first pieced quilt and while it takes a little time, it is a great first quilt.

Go to the home page and do a search on beginner's quilts. You will find lots of info and tips there.

VERY GOOD ADVICE!!!!!!

I love that magic tile quilt!! I am going to find that pattern!!

those are really nice patterns and what gorgeous colors. Is the black line fabric something special to buy or do you cut narrow strips. This is a neat idea.

My recommendation for a first quilt is a Trip Around The World with 5" squares. Let me find a pic.

I LOVE the colors in the Trip Around The World. And I was just looking at Eleanor Burns' website. I keep forgetting about her...lol. I see her fabric is only $5.00/yd. I'll have to spend more time on her site checking things out.

Wow I love your Magic Tiles, I did do one but moved before I finished, so lost the help of my teacher, and thought I put it together wrong because the grout from block to block didn't line up.
You are very talented, TFS.
