How many times do we actually make quilts for ourselves? I'd say buy the fabric and make the quilt that you know you'll both love.

Life is short, buy the fabric. Then make two charity quilts from your stash. Everyone wins!

Oh, yes, np3 is absolutely right. I mean, you can't stop your husband from buying the fabric, and if he gives you the money, you can go buy it FOR him. You'd be doing him a service. Look at it that way.
I know, I know. I'm absolutely NO help at all! <G> The more I say I'm not going to buy fabric, the more I buy. Ir's like the stores all know when I say this and collude to offer me deals I can't refuse. <G> Oh, well.... |

You guys are all sooooo BAD. I have classes at LQS the next two days, sure glad you aren't around to whisper in my ear. I'm a real sucker when someone else thinks I should buy something.
I also think that there was an exclusion in our commitment that if someone else buys it, it doesn't count. Pat |

I don't know about you, but if my hubby wanted "our" quilt, I would have ordered the fabric immediately...the pledge only applies to other purchases. 4 years ago, the doctor walked into my husband's room and said he would have to operate and only had less than 50% of making it. If he did, could suffer severe permanent damage. Long story short, he is still with me and has had some good times since then. He has never been the same, but has developed a declining "normal". We never know when we will be faced with such circumstances. Enjoy every day and every experience, we are not promised the next ones. Not to be morbid, just to say, seize the opportunity and buy your fabrics for "our" quilt. Don't feel guilty, this is different.
