I REALLY don't like the 30's stuff.

really really really don't like batiks at all. did I say really . they look old, faded ,wrinkled just plain ugly to me.

I don't care to much for the Civil war fabrics, to me they are to dark, but I do love the 1930's, and some batiks not very many though.

Oh yeah? Then maybe you'll get all that bright funky orange outta my house!!! [/quote] I love orange! Maybe there is something we can trade for. I have about 6 yards of farm fabric with animals and all or maybe something else? LOL Look at my avatar. Even my poor kids can't escape my love for orange. |

It's one thing if they're used for a pictoral scene - needing something to look like the sky, for example, but just a traditional quilt using batiks? I'm just not a fan of that fabric. I've never bought any, and doubt I ever will. Am I alone?
What about everyone else? Anything you don't like? Batiks? Civil War repro? 30's? solids? Do you like everything, especially if it's on sale? I don't really care for Batiks either. My Sister loves them. She sticks more to the muted colors. (I call them boring) I like the bright slap you in the face colors! Oh yeah? I don't like color combinations that are muddy. For instance - the Robert Kaufman Chirp line has cute patterns but flat colors.
I prefer colors that pop - along the lines of Laurel Burch's designs. I like some batiks, but not others - again, back to muddy/murky/flat colors and color combinations. Cheers, K |
There's a time and place for each design, but I'm getting a little tired of the pink/brown/turqoise combo.

When I started quilting I didn't like 30s fabric. Joined a block of the month that was 30s print. Now I love it. Enjoy batiks and pastels. Don't like Civil war or dark , but I have used then in quilts for male relatives. When I make a quilt for me, it is all pastels. Can't imagine making a Thimbelberries quilt. that being said, I might change my mind sometime.
