Thank you for asking the question, and for all of the great responses too :D:D:D

if you do the backing being brought forward over the top fabric to make binding, it makes mitered corners as you go along.
take one "side" and fold the fabric over to meet the raw edge of the hexagon and over again covering the hex. pin in place. then go to the next side ,fold and fold again, pin. then on to the rest. I did a lot of them for a quilt so i hand stitched them together. i also made coasters that way and stitched the 'binding' down by machine with a blanket stitch (can use any other stitch you like). |

I am picking up a binding tool today (yay! My day to do errands!!) (small things in life, what can I say?) and it will make it A LOT easier to do the binding...
http://www.animasquilts.com/BMTinstructions.html I had originally saw a tutorial for using a different tool and actually rigged up two rulers to get the same effect so that I could bind the wall quilt I was working on and it gave PERFECT corners. I was absolutely amazed by it... but then I saw this one and it looks just as easy if not easier than the other way and it's a lot cheaper so I figured I'd give it a go.. http://www.sewbizmarion.com/shop/Qui...nding-Tool.htm The one I would have used is different than this one - I linked you to the one you'd need ;) |
