Oh, I understand now! That's like I did witht he very first quilt I ever made, except I sandwiched the batting in like Lisa recommends. My Mother had made beautiful star blocks then got macular degeneration and couldn't see well enough to finish it and I'd never quilted before, I was a bundle of nerves, let me tell you! After I got it turned, I discovered that the back was a little bigger than the front so I just pulled it taut, and sewed so it looked like it had a border. It turned out really well! I'll post a pic over in the picture forum.

I always wait until the binding is sewn to the front before trimming, and always use 2 /1/2 in and iron it in ha;f. then use a blind stitch to hand sew it on the back.

you can cheat..go to the shop in the section where all the braids and ribbons are kept. Now how to describe this is the problem..you need it to be about an inch and a half wide and it is sold by the metre on rolls like ribbon. It is woven and I used it on a quilt as you go rag quilt for a baby and it worked brilliantly. Basically all you do is place it face up and sew along the edge and then fold over edge of the quilt and do the same on the other side.
