I'm lucky that I had a great home economics teacher for garment sewing. After years of hand-sewing linings and bias bindings for hems I discovered that those skills transferred to quilt bindings too. It's one of my favorite things to do on a quilt.

I'm newer than you, then! My first quilt was a panel baby quilt; I bound first one side, then the other, then top, then bottom, with individual strips. On these pot holders, I made the continuous strips, but thought I needed to machine sew both front & back, as they will see lots of use. Bad idea. If I'd had time enough, I'd have thrown them both away & made replacements. :P

Oh well, just another learning opportunity, right? :D
