how about a string quilt? They turn out very nice...and graphic...kids love them!

I will post a picture when it if done. I'm thinking that I will stick with the Card Trick. Going to do a couple of test blocks.

I was searching for ideas for a black and white quilt and ran across your post. I image by now you have made or are making the quilt, but if you haven't I can send you a picture of a black and white and pink quilt my Mother made for my daughter. I believe it's a Lover's Knot pattern and is beautiful!

Why not a sampler quilt? You'd get to work on some patterns you've wanted to try and she's sure to have her "favorite"!!
