KATIA:

Penny Sturges says it is okay to sell a bag you make from her pattern. here is the link from her site. Look on the right hand side at the top of frame.

If she hasn't already, the owner/designer of the pattern needs to fill out a VeRO form with eBay, and they'll shut down any copycats in a heartbeat.

Here's a link describing the VeRO program:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/...s-vero-ov.html

And here's a link to the form she'll need to fill out:

http://pages.ebay.com/vero/notice.html

If you'd like to pass this information along to her, that'll be great. :)

Sometimes it's harder for a "regular" eBayer to get eBay's attention regarding copyright infringement, but from my experience, once the copyright owner steps up and fills out the VeRO form, they'll shut down the listings so fast the seller's head will be spinning. ;-)

I have no problem with people selling the bags, I think it is great. Also wonderful that Penny is cool with it. But I don't like the idea of someone selling the photocopied pattern, if that is what is happening. I have seen it so much on Ebay. If it is a very old pattern that is no longer available for sale, maybe that would be different. But when the pattern is still selling in stores and on her website, then she is taking away profits from the designer.

I agree 10000000%. I just thought i would share the link as an FYI.

Ebay is a good thing and a bad thing. I have been burnt a couple times myself, didn't take long to learn and take everything with a grain of salt. :)

Katia,
I think you misunderstood this posting for the Bow Tucks "pattern". Of course there is no problem selling the bags, but selling "photo copies" of the designer's pattern - which has been confirmed by Quilts Illustrated - is not o.k.

The photo copied pages have been folded in half "like the original pattern", but the print does not go all the way to the edges of the paper due to photo copier cut off.

Not only would I let E-Bay know whats going on, but I would let the pattern company know whats going on also!

Quilts Illustrated is the pattern company & they are the ones that verified that I had a photo copy & not an original copy of the pattern.

for those who can't find the pattern at LQS, you can order as I did from quiltsillustrated.com
btw, mine doesn't have any kind of copyright info, I'll bet that's something they missed at the first printing.
