   men you gotta love them!! My father in law had been wanting a video camera for years and i guess one day he got sick of waiting so when it was his wifes birthday he bought her the video camera...another year he came home with a boat....for mothers day!

Had to laugh, the last couple of years, something always seems to go kaput right around Mother's day. One year it was the lawn mower, the next it was the dishwasher. So we get a new one and DH likes to tell me that that is my Mother's Day gift. Very appropriate since I do all teh lawn work due to his allergies, although he does the dishes most nights!

Would he give you the money to go buy it yourself or would he buy it for you, If you get the money, would he even know if you got a new machine or not, take it and run to the fabric store, and tell him how much youlove your new machine.....

One year my husband and daughter completely organized my sewing room for me, bought all different types of containers, put the fabric in project categories as well as color coding the ones I was not using at the time.

It was a great gift. My husband bought me one of those $139 Brother machines years ago, it last for a long time until I started to get frustrated that I could not do all of the stuff I wanted to do so he said we have the money go buy a new machine. And I got to do just that.

That reminds me of the year my Dad bought a CB radio for my Mother for her birthday and then mounted it in his car.

BUCKET I love what you said!

On Jan 1,2000 we were in our yard and playing w/sparklers and DH was lighting off fireworks and he turned to me and unzipped his dow coveralls and opened a tiny white box and said I got you something for being a 20 year say at home mom a 2 carat diamond and I looked and thought for sure it was a JOKE! There sat a 2.04 carat solitaire diamond..sparkling back at me. Yes, I thought his was fake and a joke but he stood there in front of me and said I know it is plain and you can exchange it for something fancier if you want I just want you to know how greatful I am you are a stay at home mom. I was like ...what the heck are you serious? He was and then he said this... I know for Christmas you wanted an antique sewing machine and I got you a replica because I didn't want to get you something used for Christmas. I just cried and cried. And after I bought this ring I didn't have the money for anyhting but a replica. I was so humbled and in awe over his unselfish love for me and I felt horrible at my pout over my replica machine.
That night we went to bed and after crying for over 3 hours he asked me to downstairs to the livingroom cuz I was crying so hard I was shaking the bed. I LOVE MY RING! He picked it out all by himself! I am so tickled, still am! My husband is more than generous and BUCKET you nailed it in our comments beautifully.

Be thankful! Life is short. A friend recently said "You can be right or you can be happy" :D

I want both!!!

All these stories sure make me smile. I think I should bookmark this thread and read it whenever I'm having a down day. It certainly would cheer up even the gloomiest of days.
