I just got a few yards of this. I think it's just too cute. I'm making my daughters some pencil cases and i-pod wallets so they can use fabric sharpies and color them in themselves. That way, it can be their own. :) I don't think I've ever been this excited over any fabric I've gotten before....lol.

It looks like great fun for the kids. I learned from a friend recently that you can use ordinary Crayolas on fabric and then iron it between layers of paper towels to get the wax out. It goes through the wash surprisingly well. The kids might find that more manageable than the pens because they don't bleed and there are more colors. If it were to fade a little after many washings, they could have the pleasure of coloring it again. It's a good idea to stabilize the the fabric with freezer paper on the back before doing the coloring to keep it from puckering under the force of the crayon. If the design is small, you'll want to sharpen the crayons often. Here's an example someone posted showing a border design she is doing with crayons and embroidery: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...s-t195717.html

Oh! what pretty fabric. The colors will not wash away with fabric sharpies...where did you purchase the fabric...and where do you purchase the sharpies? Thanks for sharing.

Where did you find this, is it a Kauffman or what? I want some to make those little makeup bags, for the grandaughters, it would also look good with hot pink and zebra fabric mixed in... I love it...

You're right, it is cute and begs to be colored in.
I bought a large assortment of Sharpies at OfficeMax a few years back. You might have luck there - or at other office supply stores, especially now with all the back-to-school shopping. |
It really is cute... and will be so much fun for them.. enjoy.... thanks for sharing
