I think everyone that uses a rotary cutter has cut themselves at least once. Yes, I have cut myself more times than I want to admit. I know better and still I do something silly like this!

No way to have stitches on my left pointer finger. Just threw away the cut off part, went to drugstore (with grandsons assistance) bought some of the medical tape that stays on until it comes off by its self. I can't remember how long the tape was one but when it finally came off the finger was skinner, but healed. Was tender for quite a while. Am VERY careful now!

I have to be very careful about cuts because I take a blood thinner. So I do take precautions. I have guards on all my rulers. DH cut a long guard into several small pieces to use on the short rulers. If I'm going to be cutting a lot of fabric for something, I wear my Klutz glove. Right after I starting using my rotary cuter, I dropped it and it missed my foot (in flip-flops) about a half-inch, so I got in the habit of closing my cutter "every" time I lay it down. I do have one that closes automatically and that's the best one to use around others.

I took a class several years ago. The instructor was obsessed with closing the rotary blades when not in use. Someone in a previous class had cut themselves badly with a blade left open. She said you were out of the class if you left a blade open. Because of this, I very seldom cut myself.

I routinely slice the top layer of skin off my left pointer finger... you'd think I'd learn... like the suggestions... thanks.

Didn't cut my finger but dropped an open cutter on my foot. I was only wearing socks. It wasn't very long but very deep. Now I make sure I'm wearing shoes when cutting.

Oh yeah and it bled like crazy too. I actually shaved a piece of the fat part of my finger bad off. That's why I like my Accuquilt so much LOL.

I did that 2 months ago. I cut the whole tip off my finger. One suggestion is don't look up at the TV when you are cutting!Bad, Bad, Bad!!!!!

After my latest cut, I purchased a klutz glove!
