I normally don't pre-shrink batting unless I'm using it in a pot holder or placemat. I made a really nice set of placemats last year. (I used one layer of Hobbs 100% cotton batting.) The first time I washed them, they drew up and won't lay flat any more. I learned!

I threw my W&N into the dryer on medium for about 10 minutes with a damp towel. Then used it. Haven't washed it yet. But I did have to repair one I made a couple years ago with polyester batting and was shocked at how it has lumped up! I'm not using that any more. And I guess I should pay more attention to how far apart to quilt the project.
As my first husband said years ago, "Directions are for the dummies who don't know how to do it." that's me. |
