I love the iron on transfers! I use them on --- I call them tea towels --- flour sack towels --- in the kitchen. I iron on the pattern and then color with fabric pens. (I embroidered a few then realized that was way too much effort to put into kitchen towels! LOL ) I've also used them for redwork quilts and general embroidery. The most recent project I've done were nursery rhyme characters. I colored them with crayons (the heat set method) and put them in a quilt for my GD. I did outline those with black fabric pen and used the pen on fine detail areas like eyes, nose, mouth etc... I have a bunch of them - I'm addicted.

I got a big bunch for next to nothing on EBay. I see them there a lot, but quit looking since I already have more than I will ever use.

I have 4 books of transfer patterns that are 2 inches thick plus a bunch of Aunt Martha's that I had plus my mothers. I also draw my own patterns with a transfer pencil as I am an artist and quilter. I have made many patterns and should publish a book.

there are packages of blocks you can buy that are already stamped. Thin fabric but you can put a piece of cotton batting on the back and embroidery thur both. I have a cross stitch sue/sam that I did in purple, but the transfer make not iron, I'll look in out local stores for you if you'd like.

I have a lot of these patterns too. Someone suggested a red pen for darkening the patterns. Where do you get the pen?

Coloring with crayons (heat set) How do you do this? Are they just regular crayons? I was reading something on here the other day about taking older coloring books with the large simple pictures and transferring those to fabric.
