I love to hand quilt, that is actually how I learned, and all I did until about 2 years ago...it can be really relaxing to sit with dh, and watch some tv, while I hand quilt...I can't tell you what the rates are, as I have never charged for it...I don't think anyone ever gets paid what it really is worth, though...lol...

We have a LA but there are so many quilts that just scream to be handquilted. And I really do enjoy it.

I hand quilt all of the things I do for myself and family. Most of the time if they are for clients they want it machine done because it is less expensive for them and they are in a hurry to get it back.

My experience has been that they are both in the same ball park. I let the other factors help me decide which to have done ... end usage (durability required), style of quilt, which technique will look best, and overall look I want to achieve. |
I usually do FMQ on my Bernina, but I have decided to learn to hand quilt, so go so far!

I have a friend that handquilts --- stays busy all the time!

I hand quilt all my own quilts (except those for charity that require machine quilting). I don't know that I'd do work for others as I don't think my skills are THAT good. Everyone I've given a quilt has been blessedly complimentary but I don't know that the average person would pay for my skill level. Hence, I have no idea of fees.
