So glad I'm not the only one.

Happydaze, I am not cottage dee, but, OHIO is near Michigan and it was in the single digits last week and just about 30 f this week. so, at the freezing point. now, about those squares . . . I made blocks (12 of them) using 36 squares each to start a scrappy for my nephew, and had to put it aside until after Thanksgiving. I can't find them to save my soul! I am now hoping that they will have multiplied by the time I find them..

This is reply to Cottage Dee. This is amazing. It just shows how much we must waste by throwing it away. Is it cold over there?.

Hey, I wish mine would reproduce! Then I could do some of the fun scrappy patterns. :-) LOL

Even if you don't leave them unchaproned they mulitply. I spent all afternoon in my "cave" and ended up with more 2 1/2 in squares and 5 in squares than when I started. I put my 2 1/2 in squares into 9 patches and then put the patches together in a quilt. Last week I used a lot of my 2 1/2 in strips and made a jelly roll marathon type quilt. That did use a lot of my strips. I probably have more cut squares and strips than I will probably ever use but just can't get rid of them. When I cut my left over fabric into squares, I have a bin under my cutting table that I put the really small pieces in and then I give them to a friend that uses them for paper piecing.

my scraps keep making more! Potential to overwhelm the world must be in the sewing room:) I set a goal to use all my left overs and now I have so many I am almost lost in them.. They do make wonderful useable items to hopefully bless other folks with!! I keep to much, but have you seen the wonderful pictures made with little pieces and bits of fabric!! ? Beautiful stuff!!!
Have fun cutting an sewing:) It's cold outside!

I pointed to the drawers where I have my scrap squares and strips stored and he just shook his head. He will never understand!!!!

My husband does exactly the same thing! He knows the 2.5" ones are too big to throw away but he threatens the 1.5" strips--but then he saw the brown quilt that I'm doing and he saw that I NEED those 1.5" strips!

A few years ago, I cut up all my scraps into 2 1/2 inch squares for a quilt pattern I had. Fast forward a few years. I have made 2 full size quilts, several table runners, tote bags, and just this past week, I have sewed 1000 of those little buggers together. I have barely made a dent in my collection. I think they are reproducing when I'm not looking. So if you have a collection, keep an eye on them.

Just finished a Cathedral Window for my daughter. Now I have a box full of 2 1/2 squares. Y ou just gave me a few seeds for thought...Thank you:):)

Maybe they do if you cut them into squares? LOL

But then you'd have to sew them back together with perfectly sewn 1/8" seams
