I hate it when: It was to hot to sew so I didn't sew for awhile and my sewing room got to be the catch all room and now I feel like sewing but don't feel like getting my sewing room cleaned up first. I have my day cut out for me.
Bring on the coffee.

mrs. fitz 09-22-2010 08:07 AM

This is an excellent topic. Most of us, I'm sure, have had most of these things happen at least once. I know I'm sitting here nodding my head as I read the replies LOL.

You just finished sewing all the binding strips together and you 2 inches too short...ugh...and I have no more of that fabric left. ; ( Thirftyideastoday.com

Or - you are completely on a roll sewing on the binding and you get to a seam and realise that the next piece has SOMEHOW been sewn on wrong sides together!!!

: )

lorraine43 09-22-2010 08:57 AM

It seems I have had almost all of these things happen at one time or the other!!

"thread barf?" That's hysterical!

I don't have a treadle, but I've had the bobbin, pins & needle problems...glad I'm not alone!

purplefiend 09-22-2010 09:15 AM

I once sewed my quilt to my Mom's table cloth...thankfully the table had just been cleared for dinner. I had to unquilt 2 blocks. rofl

My dd coined that term when she was learning to sew at the machine. lol

OKLAHOMA PEACH 09-22-2010 09:19 AM

THANK YOU, thank you, thought i was the only one these things happen to. Love to read the blogging here. I learn so much.

OKLAHOMA PEACH 09-22-2010 09:22 AM

Just love it here, I learn so much. Glad I'm not the only one with these problems.

marthe brault-hunt 09-22-2010 09:44 AM

My specialty is that I forget to change the 1/4 inch foot for a regular one when I want to zigzag. Broken needle, rethreading and etal. Grrrr. I wonder for my sanity sometimes!

I've had that happen often enuf that I keep a yardstick handy just for that purpose!

candiharris11 09-22-2010 10:11 AM

or you've stitched it to the leg of your pants!

The worst part is that as soon as you realize it's happened you try to jump up in alarm and are firmly anchored to the machine by your pointer. So, there you are, flopping about with a sewing machine sprouted out the end of your hand trying to work up the courage to back the needle out. And, no, ladies, it's really not as painful as you'd think, just really unnerving.

It's not so much the needle going INTO the finger - it's getting the needle OUT of the finger - - -

And worst of all when I have to pull out a piece of furniture to retrive that bobbin and find a lot of dust and would feel guilty if I didn't get out the vacuum. Have you ever just shoved the furniture back and said 'I'll clean it later." I have and the older I get the easier it is to not feel guilty. LOL

SweetRosie 09-22-2010 10:50 AM

Hi Tweetee:
What a magnificent horse in your avatar. Is it yours?

mrspete 09-22-2010 12:54 PM

a moment you don't want to remember! for sure

Flying_V_Goddess 09-22-2010 01:03 PM

I hate it when I go to pin projects in any room other than my bedroom, loose a couple pins in the process, and get scolded to the nth degree when they'd later turn up in someone's foot!

buslady 09-22-2010 01:06 PM

I had a cat that I had to hide my pincusion on. She would pick all the pins out and toss them all over the table!

If you can think fast enough - let go of the thread. Not as much will unwind, and holding onto the thread doesn't really make the bobbin roll less.

carolaug 09-22-2010 02:45 PM

I really hate this one. Especially after stitching a very long seam.

I also hate every single one previously mentioned. Just this morn. I dropped my little screwdriver I use for changing feet. Just could not see that little bugger anywhere. Had to get on my hands & knees & move everything in sight. Still can't believe where I found it.

sosewcrazy 09-22-2010 04:11 PM

Or when you get all these little pieces arranged and laid out on the table and someone turns on the ceiling fan. On high, of course!

bearisgray 09-22-2010 04:11 PM

where
