I just recently bought a Brother PE770,,,,,,totally love it! I literally have to put it in my sewing room downstairs from time to time or I would have it running 24/7! I upgraded from a Bernette Deco 650---need to sell it as it is just taking up needed room. I have quite a collection of embroidery patterns, just over 20,000 within the month I have owned the machine. I have been stitching like crazy, doing shirts for friends, quilt labels and tons of things!

Machine Embroidery can be used for quilting too. I have a Babylock Ellegante and I'm sure you could get a good deal on one since the Elisimo is now top of the line. I sew, quilt, and embroidery on mine and just love it. Here's a few pics of some of my quilts I've embroidered. Quilt-as-you-go method is great for quilts using embroidery. |
I have a Pfaff Creative Vision 5.5 machine.. I love this machine. It does everything better and is easier to use than any machine I've ever had.. and I've had a lot.. from the vintage FW to my most used machine, a Bernina 830 that I bought brand new shortly after it was introduced.. I love Bernina machines... I have 3.. but the Pfaff is my favorite.. I use Floriani threads and stabilizers, which I think are just wonderful. I haven't gotten to do very much ME for the past 17 months.. We were demolished by the tornado that hit Joplin, Mo.. I did grab my machines out of the mess and I'm so looking forward to getting back into a house and being able to sew again. We are hoping to be in our own house again by Christmas.. Until then, I'll be reading all the posts with longing.

Well ladies, I'm going to pass along one of my secrets - I have used this item for years, on anything sticky! It's great, smells good, and works grrrr-eat. Now ya'all are going to be surprised I'm sure, but it works, and I've never, ever had it to ruin anything. Are you ready for this? It's ELECTRIC PRE SHAVE. Yep, the stuff men use before they shave with an electric shaver. You can purchase the cheapest brand too. The smell is pleasant, it disappears rather quickly, too.
I have used it on my machines, embroidery hoops, sticky tags, labels - you name it, if it's stuck or sticky, it works. If it's a stubborn sticky, just squirt some on the item and let it set a bit. I have yet to have it fail. Hope ya'all will give it a try.. Jean |
Well I completed my first actual embroidery project on my dream machine, and while it is my no means perfect, its a start and I can say I am quite proud of myself and feel I am learning a lot. I just wish I could get more responses to my embroidery questions here that are related to quilting. This hobby I can say is overwhelming, especially if you start with a huge machine like me. I was planning on getting the pe-700 but saw the sewing dreamweaver and thought it was time to just make the plunge. Haven't had time to do much, but after today I am not as scared to just dive in
