Eddie, Fall is my favorite time of year and I have 2 famovite quilts I've made commemorating my favorite season. The first one is from a book called Tradition with a Twist. It kind of looks like an oriental rug from a distance but it is all made with 9 patch blocks. My other favorite came from a quilting magazine a few years ago. It is simple to put together but really looks great. Here I have it on point as a table topper.

Yes Eddie, I made the templates with template plastic and covered the areas I wanted to protect. Spray a bleach solution over the black fabric and wait for the color to discharge. Whe you achieve the color you want dip in water to rinse the bleach and in a peroxide solution to stop the blech reaction. Hang to dry. I used the same templates to cut out the leaves out of the fall color fabrics and applique on top of the discharge, with the protected areas showing a little as a shadow. You can applique them on with either a satin stitch or a blanket stitch with a stabilizer on the back. It is actually a lot easier than it sounds. I recommend to test a sammple of the fabric, because not every fabric discharge the same. I did mine with batiks.

Excellent. That's cool about the bleach, I would never have thought of that. That's something else I need to try. :)
