Think I'm going to have to use Varigated Thread soon! I have several assorted spools that I have for machine embroidery. Yeah! Won't cost me a thing!

I only used white for a very long time. Now I have branched off a bit. I do not feel bad getting just few colors. I don't go hog wild over it.

Oh, and I LOVE Welsh Corgis.

I like variegateds for quilting though.

When you use varigated for quilting, do you use it in the bobbin too? I haven't tried varigated yet.

So far I always have. My backings are almost always a print that the variegated tends to blend into.

I did on one quilt where the backing was the same as one of the fabrics in the front. On all the others I went with a solid prewound bobbin.

I have three colors of thread for piecing. white/cream for piecing whites or light colored fabrics, a medium tan color for medium colored fabrics. And a med grey for piecing dark fabrics. Its not necessary to match the thread to the fabric color when piecing.

I use cream for light fabrics and gray for darks. I ordered the neutral set from Connecting Threads for piecing. It works great.

It depends on the backing fabric, and what look I am going for. I have also used a solid on the top and varigated on the back :D:D:D

For piecing I like the neutral colors too.

Hi, I love your Corgi! I have one also, a tri-color. Anyway, I try to use cream for lighter fabrics and light grey for darker ones. Hope that helps. Take care, and enjoy your dog
