Hopefully I have added an attachment of the quilt I flower pounded here. Sheri
This quilt has flower pounded blocks. These were flowers from my dad's funeral and the quilt was a gift for my MOM. |
That is a very beautiful quilt and such a great way to remember your Dad. I'm sure that your Mom will treasure this quilt forever.

That is very pretty and very unique,

Cat,
I've been out of touch for a few days and just now catching up with all of the posts/topics. Thanks for your words of encouragement as well as the beautiful picture of your quilt. Is this the only one you have made? Have you made items to frame? I know I will try this technique for sure now and just hope for the same results you have had. Thanks. Suzanne |
I have made other blocks, my husband made frames for them, and they were given away as gifts. I did not take any pictures of those. Sorry.
When I taught classes we did our poundings on a 6 X 9 piece of fabric to start with (seems to be less intimidating) and I had everyone put a 5X8 index card under to center their work. Then they filled the area to their liking, traced everything with a permanent fine point pen (Sharpie or Pigma), signed their masterpiece, cut it down to size, and then framed them. There were some awesome pieces! Sheri |
There is a site for ordering Hamiliton books using a credit card. There is more postage and handeling :D
The flower pounding is lovely. Do you cover it with something ? sounds interesting. If pieces of the petal adhere to your fabric then what? :?: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_quilting_other/article/0,1789,HGTV_3305_1392411,00.html This will ans a few questions , but would rather get the book for more details |
Love the quilt. The flowers look awsome? I want to try It! What do I need to get started?

Absolutely AMAZING!
OMGosh! What a way to make good use of the flowers and remember their beauty. They'll never wither away like this! What a tribute to Dad! I bet your Mom really cherishes this quilt! |
Here is the link to the directions from simply quilts:
http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_quilting_other/article/0,1789,HGTV_3305_1392411,00.html The basic supplies are: 2 inch masking tape, a hammer or mallet, apiece of wood or cutting board to hammer on, a pigma pen to outline with, and pdf fabric. (You can buy pdf fabric, make your own, or use the printed tresure sheets - or another brand. - If you use untreated muslin, your design will eventually fade away.) Have fun. Sheri |
