Martelli foot pedal pad works perfectly for me. I had another pad that never did what it promised and now I am so pleased. I do have low pile carpet under my sewing table.

Glad it was helpful! Re the table legs - you could use a cord or two around the legs vs having to set the legs into holes. If you use peg board, you already have holes on the board to string a lace through. Then you could just tie/untie them, or a Velcro type closure would work too.
