I went to the PO today to get the box and was also told that to Spain it would be $37.00 to mail, though was not given a weight limit. Has anyone mailed anything yet and what was the cost? If an envelope is cheaper, I will do that, but honestly, I can not afford $37.00 at this time. Henry, have you mailed yours yet?
Izy, sorry I got your hopes up. I was sending full pieces too, not just scraps. |
Beachlady - PLEEEEASE don't worry, I understand it is costly. I appreciate your effort so send my gratitude and thanks to you anyway for thinking and wanting to partake. :D

Izy, sorry I got your hopes up. I was sending full pieces too, not just scraps. I'm hoping to get this sent out within the next day or two. Have some other packages that I have promised that didn't get posted because hubby "forgot" to get them from my room and didn't tell me until we were almost at the PO. Wouldn't be so bad....PO is only 15 miles away, but it takes 40 min to get there because the roads here are so bad and I wasn't about to turn around and get them and then drive all the way back. |
I sent a postal service padded envelope with several good sized pieces of fabric, mailing out of North Carolina. Total cost for envelope and postage was $18.85.

That sounds better Calico. I checked out UPS and for a 20lb box they only wanted 298.00 to Spain!! Maybe I'll fly over with a suitcase full of fabric!!! I know some Spanish. So we can use a padded envelope, not the flat rate envelope and get a better price. Will check that out.

well, I will inquire on Wedesday, when I get off of work. The rate calculator states that 1 lb can be sent for around $10.00. The calculator table showed the dame dollar amount for box or envelope. If that is correct, I will mail of 1lb. Thats about the most I can afford this payday. The fabric is plentiful (closet full) but the dollars or not.
Henry have you mailed any yet? Since you are just a few miles form me, I was wondering if the web site calculator was correct. |
I also went to the PO to get a flat rate box. The cost would be $38.00!! So I told a flat rate envelope for $11.00 BUT I can hardly squeeze 2 yds. of fabric in it. Not worth sending 2 yds. for $11.00. Didn't think to check out regular mail (padded envelope) but usually that is more expensive. Can't wait to hear what you all find out.

Izy please retype you entire address with zip code in place I need to know that I am sending it to the right address. One of your responses confussed me. I have stuff that I am sure you all would use and might try to do a once a month thing for a while, that way it's not to expensive for me and u all will have something to look forward too. I cann't imagine not having fabric available to me -Do u use old clothing to make quilts? Guess u have to be very creative. thanks, and hope to start something good for all of you sewbusy
