Like some others have said, I would not use the 28wt thread. The 28wt thread is a nice size if you were going to use big stitches. That weight would be a bit thick for a normal hand quilting stitch. Most of my quilts have been hand quilted and I use a 40wt thread. My preferences for thread are King Tut (usually a variegated thread) or YLI.
