I hand quilt (big stitch) on a table top. I just can not get the hang of a hoop.

Me, too. or if large, drape most on a table (can clamp it) and pull the part I'm working on off the edge.

I use a 12" wooden hoop. My arms are short and I have difficulty with larger hoops.

The final quilt size is 20"x6" 120". Notice that each strip, being 20inches uses 42" fabric cut on the fold to give 21" and 1/2" seams for the backing. (no waste). Quilting large quilts in strips reduces the weight on my shoulders and arms, and is easily managed.

This way of doing a quilt fascinates me! Is there a tutorial on how you assemble the strips? This way just makes sense to me and how I approach things. I could even take a strip along with me when travelling or watching sleeping babies.

Clever!
Who would have thought could quilt in a recliner?!

14" hoop works for me. I start in the center.

A 14 or 16 round hoop for me also. I always start in the middle. I have a large square hoop as well which I use occasionally.

I use a wooden, oval hoop about 20" x 12". You just have to baste well, either with pins or thread. Works well and is highly portable.

Ditto, done hundreds this way. I baste with thread but other customers have sent them to me basted with pins.

ETA- just checked, my large oval hoop is 26". I have a smaller one that I use for smaller projects.

I machine baste in grid with water solvable thread on top and regular thread on the back. Then I hand quilt from the center toward the outer edge. It’s the best stress reliever!
