Thanks for your response. Aren't modern quilting fabrics also 100% cotton? Still unsure what the age of the blocks have to do with it. And the old saw about poly cotton ripping through the threads of cotton fabric has been proven to be an old wives tale and untrue. Probably started by someone trying to sell poly thread. 😜😄

Perhaps the point was that, being around 80 years old, the blocks may be a bit fragile -- which, actually, they are. This project will be quilted gently and never washed.
