I used my Cutco kitchen shears to cut a mat that was damaged, the worked great, and now I have several smaller mats that I can take to class, and one next to my sewing machine

I used my Pampered Chef kitchen shears.

When my cutting mats get worn out (esp. before I started using self-healing mats), I cut them up to use in the bottom of my handbags.
I cut mine using an old box cutter (new blade) and an old metal drafting ruler.

Almost embarrased to admit......but I used a table saw. Figured it would be much easier on my hands - not to mention quicker....lol.

I use a bandsaw to cut mine for the bottoms of bags

I did cut one to match the width of my Bernina sewing table. (the size is handy because it also fits into my wheel-around sewing machine suitcase - or whatever it's called!) You have to use good strong scissors! I used my Swissors.
I'm new to this forum and have a hard time finding something a second time, so please understand if I don't respond to anyone!! I'll catch on eventually.

my husband cuts mine on the table saw. cut up the good parts for smaller mats works great.

I use kitchen shears many times and they've worked well.
Whenever I buy a new mat, I cut the old one to fill needs in the studio - My favorite are the 14"x16" strips taped to the tables right next to my sewing machine and my embroidery machine for quick little cuts while I'm sewing.
